I was hankering after some Thai food as a love the fresh ingredients and flavors. I decided to try “Authentic Thai Foods” small portion dishes. It was an affordable way to try some of their menu.

Below you can see in the photos the prices for the food in the photos (2025)

The Spring Rolls

My meal began with fresh spring rolls. I got 5 in a tub for NZD$10. The thin slices of carrot added a gentle crunch and a hint of sweetness, perfectly balancing the soft noodles tucked inside. I could also see mushrooms inside.

They were nice and crispy and had a nice flavor, I didn’t find them too spicy, they are most likely deep fried so I do expect them to be slightly oily but they certainly weren’t soggy.

I really liked that most of the packaging seemed eco friendly the bag was paper and the spring rolls were in a cardboard container instead of plastic.

Satay Chicken

The satay chicken was served with a unique blend of brown rice. The rice itself was intriguing a mix of white and possibly wild rice, giving it a slight purple hue and a lovely soft texture with just a little bite.

The satay sauce was absolutely divine. Peanut forward with a touch of fruity sweetness, it carried just the faintest whisper of spice. I could feel the texture of coconut in each bite, adding both creaminess and that hint of natural sweetness. A few chunky peanut pieces gave it extra texture, a detail I really appreciated.

If I had one wish, it would be for a little more sauce, because it was so good I wanted it coating every whole piece of chicken. The chicken itself was thinly sliced, perfectly tender, and had that slight char from the grill that brings out a deeper, smoky flavor. I’m pretty sure it was chicken breast, juicy, flavorful, and satisfying without being heavy. The sprinkling of sesame seeds on top was the perfect finishing touch.

It had a slight spice but as someone who doesn’t like really spicy food it was fine for me and my child loved them too!

Extras & Service
On the side, there was a pot of sweet chili sauce. I’ll be honest it’s not usually my thing, but it seemed fine for those who enjoy a sweet and spicy kick.

The lady in the shop greeted me with a warm smile, and my order was ready in about ten minutes. She was super friendly and I could tell she genuinely cared about making sure the food was ok for you, I feel if you had any food intolerances or allergies she would be very accommodating to try to cater to your needs.

Final Thoughts
I enjoyed the food and definitely would like to try more dishes. I loved the small dishes options so you can try some dishes without spending almost 25 dollars on just one dish.

Though I was hesitant about the brown rice as I prefer white rice, it actually wasn’t the typical brown rice you get from the supermarket and I actually really liked it.
