Ingredients

  • 500g beef mince
  • 130g tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Italian dried herbs
  • About 2 tbsp beef stock (you can eyeball it!)
  • Spaghetti pasta (enough for 2 servings)

Method

  1. Brown the beef mince in a large pan over medium heat. Break it up with your spoon as you go. No one wants a meatball surprise in their spaghetti.
  2. Start boiling water in a saucepan on another hob so it can be ready to cook the spaghetti.
  3. Once the mince is browned, add the tomato paste, Italian herbs, and the beef stock and enough water to almost cover the mince (You can always add more). Give it a good stir and let it simmer on low.
  4. In the meantime, add your spaghetti in the separate pot. Or throw it straight into the pan with the beef mixture and enough water to cook it through (just watch the liquid levels and stir often). Either way, keep it easy.
  5. Check on the sauce, if it needs more water add more water.
  6. Serve it up with grated parmesan or cheddar cheese, a sprinkle of fresh or dried herbs if you’re feeling fancy, or just as is.

Bonus Add-Ins (If You’ve Got Time or Want a Change)

  • A clove of garlic
  • Some sliced onion added to the sauce
  • Add more vegetables like slice capsicum, thinly sliced carrots
  • A splash of red wine
