The tang of the yogurt balances the richness of the butter, and the cocoa gives it that deep, chocolatey feel without needing any processed chocolate. It’s the kind of dessert you can throw together when you’re craving something sweet, but still want to keep things relatively clean and nourishing.

Whether you eat it straight from the bowl or chill it for a thicker, pudding-like texture, this recipe is a cozy, satisfying way to enjoy something indulgent without totally stepping off track.

This dessert would be classed as flexi carnivore as it isn’t just animal based ingredients, but if you are craving a sweet treat without added sugar this can be a great option.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup full-fat plain yogurt
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1–2 tsp maple syrup (adjust to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Melt the butter:
In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, gently melt the butter until just liquid—don’t overheat.
  2. Mix cocoa and maple syrup:
In a small bowl, stir the cocoa powder into the melted butter until smooth. Add maple syrup and stir again until fully combined.
  3. Add yogurt:
Gently fold the cocoa-butter mixture into the yogurt. Stir slowly until it’s completely smooth and creamy.
  4. Chill (optional):
You can eat it right away, but chilling for 30–60 minutes will thicken it slightly and make it even more pudding-like.

Optional toppings:

  • A sprinkle of extra cocoa or cinnamon
  • A swirl of extra maple syrup
  • Shaved butter (yes, it’s a thing) or sea salt flakes for contrast

This works well as a quick dessert, a midday fat-fueled snack, or even a breakfast if you’re living the carnivore-ish life with a bit of flexibility.

It can have a slight lumper texture so if you prefer it smoother you can place in a blender to make it smoother.
